Quick addition to my last post about Lovesick Corrective Apparel — there’s a terrific interview with Andrea Johnson from July of 2008 in which she details many of her motivations and thoughts about corsetry. It’s a great read and there are some nice photos of her work, as well.
Why have I never checked out Lovesick Corrective Apparel? What amazing creations Andrea Johnson creates!
I love the style of the corsetry – it’s a great mix of Victorian and punk. Her use of straps – around hips, over shoulders, and more is pretty unique and creates a striking look. I don’t know how the straps would work for daily tightlacing, but they would be wonderful for an event corset. I also really like the integrated collars and breastbone work that appear in several of the custom designs. I just think it’s amazing to see custom work like this and love the fact that people create such art out of corsetry. Maybe someday I’ll have some more corrective apparel!
Here’s a link to a photo of some of the corsets. There are tons of photos on the Lovesick Corrective Apparel site, including a bunch of male corset content. If you’ve ever worn a corset from this corsetiere, I’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments.

There are some terrific photos of a male corset vest (as well as other corset content) on this blog – Your Fashion: Unique, alternative and individual fashion.
For example, check out this set of photos at some event called the Beyond the Trapdoor.
Not a tightlacing corset, but definitely an interesting creation.

This is not a corset, per se. But, it is certainly in line with what corset-like fashion might be in the mainstream. This follows an earlier trend of wide belts for women in fashion that (hopefully) will break back into full corsetry! Posted on a blog called Snappylifestyle
